Abstract

Background : Measurement of CK-MB fraction in patients with multiple injuries and chest blunt trauma is a specific diagnostic procedure for confirming myocardial injury.
Method : We retrospectively studied in 65 patients with blunt chest trauma and multiple injuries.
Using CK/CK-MB fraction and CK-MB, clinical features such as age distribution, accident mode, elapsed time from trauma to blood sampling, electrocardiographic finding, echocardiographic finding, and associated injury were reviewed.
Result : In Group ¥° (patient with cardiac contusion), we found that the 3rd decade was most common in age distribution, passenger accident (58.5%) in mode, abnormal electrocardiographic finding (70.7%), abnormal echocardiographic finding (78%), and, in Group ¥± (patients without cardiac contusion), older than 60 years old (29.1%) was most common in age distribution, passenger accident (33.3%) in mode, ST segment elevation (25%) in electrocardiographic finding, and rib fracture (8cases) in associated injuries.
Conclusion : With the diagnostic method such as CK-MB, we can make early diagnosis of myocardial injury and performed further evaluation.
